Loans, Scholarships, and Grants

If you have been admitted to a degree program or the Premedical Program, there are a variety of loans, scholarships, and grants to explore for financial assistance. We outline the availability of funds by program below. You may also explore funds by type.

Types of Funds

Available Funds by Program

Bachelor of Liberal Arts (ALB)

  • Harvard Extension School Grant
  • Faculty of Arts and Sciences Special Student Scholarship
  • Federal Pell Grant
  • Commonwealth of Massachusetts funding:
    • MASSGrant—for candidates enrolled in at least 16 credits per term
    • Massachusetts Part-Time Grant—for candidates enrolled in at least 8 credits but no more than 14 credits per term
  • Federal Direct Loan—for candidates enrolled in at least 8 credits per term fall or spring, 4 credits in summer
  • Federal Direct PLUS Loan—for parents of dependent candidates enrolled in at least 8 credits per term fall or spring, 4 credits in summer

Master of Liberal Arts Programs

  • Harvard Extension School Grant
  • Kwan Fong Scholarship—awarded to one management master’s degree candidate each term
  • Federal Direct Loan—for candidates enrolled in at least 8 graduate-level credits per term fall or spring, 4 credits in summer
  • Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan—for candidates enrolled in at least 8 graduate-level credits per term fall or spring, 4 credits in summer

Premedical Program

  • Harvard Extension School Grant
  • Federal Direct  Loan—for candidates enrolled in at least 8 credits per term fall or spring, 4 credits in summer
  • Federal Direct PLUS Loan—for parents of dependent candidates enrolled in at least 8 credits per term fall or spring, 4 credits in summer

Private Student Loans

Credit-based education loans from private lenders are available to candidates who require additional financial assistance or who do not meet the requirements for the aid described above.
