Premedical Program Advising for ALB and ALM, Biology Candidates

ALB degree candidates interested in applying to medical school can work with our Premedical Program (PMP) advising team. Candidates with a GPA of 3.5 or higher in Harvard coursework and a 3.2 combined, cumulative GPA from Harvard as well as all previously attended institutions (AMCAS GPA), may be eligible for medical school sponsorship.

To obtain medical school sponsorship, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Work with PMP staff for a minimum of one academic year prior to graduation.
  • Pay the standard $500 sponsorship fee, and meet minimum credit, course selection, GPA, and MCAT requirements as outlined by PMP staff.

ALM, biology degree candidates can also request PMP advising. While they would not be eligible for sponsorship, the PMP office can provide a letter of recommendation packet to medical schools if candidates have been receiving regular (at least once a semester) advising from the PMP office for at least one year preceding their medical school application.

ALB and ALM candidates who are receiving PMP advising are invited to attend PMP programming, including but not limited to clinician chats, workshops, and journal clubs. They can also join the Premedical Student Club.

If interested, schedule a preliminary meeting with the PMP advisor by emailing hcp@Extension.Harvard.edu or request that your ALB or ALM academic advisor add the PMP advisor to your success team in order to see their appointment schedule online to book a time directly.

Before meeting with a PMP advisor, ALB candidates should ask their ALB advisor to forward copies of transcripts from all schools they have attended.
