Convocation is a cherished annual tradition in which we warmly welcome admitted degree candidates, providing an understanding of the spirit, traditions, values, and rich history of Harvard Extension School.
This is truly a unique opportunity to gather together as a community, meet fellow degree candidates, and celebrate your academic journey with pomp and circumstance.

Early Check-In

Degree candidates will receive a lanyard to wear during HES Convocation. Please note: Same-day lanyard pick-up will be available at Memorial Church.
Historic Harvard Tours
Time: Scheduled between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Location: Harvard Yard
Take a guided walk through Harvard’s historic campus and discover the people, places, and traditions that make it unique.
Tours will be offered every hour from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and will run for approximately one hour.
Each tour will be capped at 35 participants. Registration will be first come/first served.
HES Student Resource Fair
Time: 2–4 p.m.
Location: 124 Mt. Auburn Street, 6th Floor, Cambridge, MA 02138
Please join us for the HES Degree Candidate Resource Fair. This event is your chance to learn more about the resources and privileges available to you as an admitted degree candidate. Explore student clubs and organizations and meet the staff and advisors who will support you throughout your journey.
Come and ask questions, make connections, and discover everything available to help you thrive at HES. Stop by any time and stay for as little or as long as you’d like. We are excited to see you!

Dean’s Distinguished Lecture

We’re excited to host the second annual Dean’s Distinguished Lecture. Each year, this lecture will feature dynamic speakers from a range of fields, sharing their insights with our community. This year, we’re thrilled to welcome Daniel L. Shapiro, Ph.D., founder and Director of the Harvard International Negotiation Program and author of the bestsellers Negotiating the Nonnegotiable and coauthor, with Professor Roger Fisher, of the negotiation classic Beyond Reason: Using Emotions as You Negotiate.
