Upon the completion of the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Accounting Microcertificate, you will understand:
- How to use an organization’s greenhouse gas inventory to develop a reduction plan to mitigate emissions in the near term.
- GHG emissions in the broader context of the environment, including how GHG emissions are linked to climate-related risk.

Starting and Completing a Microcertificate
To begin your microcertificate, you simply register for your first course for the microcertificate — no application required. Learn how to register.
To earn your microcertificate:
- Complete the two courses for graduate credit.
- Earn at least a B grade in each course.
- Complete the courses within two years.
Starting in the 2026-27 academic year, microcertificates must be completed within 2 years. We will accept one course from academic year 2025-26, however at least one class must be completed in Fall 2026 or later to qualify for this policy change.
