U.S. immigration updates: A federal court has granted Harvard’s motion for a temporary restraining order halting enforcement of the June 4 presidential proclamation while our case proceeds. The court also extended its previous order, stopping the federal government from revoking Harvard’s Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) certification. A hearing has been scheduled for June 16.

Laura Magnotti earned her BA in biological basis of behavior and history and sociology of science from the University of Pennsylvania. She then earned her PhD in neurobiology from Harvard University, where her research focused on communication between glial cells in the central nervous system. Since then, she has worked as a lecturer and concentration advisor in neuroscience at Harvard College. In that role, her responsibilities include managing the undergraduate neuroscience program, teaching courses on neural development and brain pathogens, and serving as an academic advisor for students who are studying neuroscience. Her most recent research focused on identifying new sources of neural stem cells.
